Question Question Now I am confused. My points were that I would expect a large Yamaha class in either pipe or sportsman since we have many of those in the surrounding states. I also should have mentioned that I hear the yamaha classes in WKA have been growing. I heard possibly 40+ in Sportsman and maybe ~20 in Yam pipe. I predict the Yamaha laydowns classes will be the biggest. Why are you out? We need your support Bruce! Very Happy

Sorry folks. Just having a really, really bad day (family medical issues) so I'm not thinking straight. Let's keep this going. I gotta believe there are others out there that will want to run the Yammy pipe. PM me and I will get the list together.

Kelly - I completely understand. I'd rather run my P-51, but will run the KT if it will help get a big grid (I may still run the 51 on another kart if there is a class).

This really depends on the track so it seems to be regional. Sportsman is real big in the Woodbridge club so you will see good numbers at VIR and Summit Point in Sept, but far fewer at other tracks (except maybe Daytona - hard to tell who will show up there each year). Because they're mostly far to the East, it's hard to say if many of the Woodbridge group would travel that far.

Hello Bruce,

Please add my name for the Laydown Yamaha Pipe list. It is a long trip from Michigan but I think it is going to be an unbelievable experience!

If they have a Jr. Sprint Class for a Yamaha count my son in as well.

Let me know when we need to send in our deposits and the check will be in the mail!

I guess it depends how you look at it..... Optimistic side of me says combine maybes and certains and add in some extras that might solidify when we have more concrete information and I think we have a runner.

Plus, theres quite a few (a lot?) people on a list with bernie that have not filled out the form.

This event gathered HUGE momentum in little time I think it stands a chance.
It ain't over until the deadline passes and the deposits are counted.

We'll make it.

Once a rough schedule gets posted a lot more people will commit.

Wife going to let you have yours back so you can come play? Razz

+ + + + I would LOVE to run COTA. + + + +
= = = = I got enthused, and then looked at it objectively. My "Reality check"; 216, multiplied by 600, equals 129,600. That is a lot of MONEY for a track rental, including ALL of the required considerations.
+ + + + Not to dismiss the effort; WE all appreciate the non-trivial effort to try and put it together. Not to disrespect the effort, or the messenger.
- - - - For me the money seems out of line, for a date that will be hot (maybe "you gotta be kidding me" hot). It is a Premium facility, that they want premium money for, so it should be a premium date.
The payment on the facility is probably BIG. If we wait a year or two, the NEW will be worn off, and the business part of it will take over. The other factor would be to make it a mid-week event, as most EVERYONE will have a significant drive, to get there. Take the week off, visit friends/family, (Or other tracks!) on the way, and make it an 'adventure'. That's my $ .02

After the 'new' wears off, the track then raises the rental to pay for upgrades and maintenance.....can't think of any road courses that have lowered rates recently.

Come to VIR next week....if you haven't pre-entered, each class will cost you $125. Enter two each day = $500.
Make the trek to COTA, run two each day = $600.
I'd say the 100 bucks difference is money well spent....hell, there's gonna be well over 100 bucks spent Saturday Nite just on funny colored drinks! (Thanks, Chris.....you 'expense' that, right?)

'Premium Date' Laughing Laughing Lucky to get 'any' date!

Fingers crossed Exclamation Exclamation

Put on yer 'barkers' hats boys and girls and sell this thing!

Well, I know of a couple of people that are planning on going that haven't replied on here. If everyone else that replied on here has 2 drivers they know that are also attending, we have well over our 216. Start packing your race gear!

We should get a television crew to film us and as well as some of our trips to the circuit. I know of a TV crew that could do it but it only airs in the Bay Area, here in California... However I could get them to distribute CD or DVD's of the races to each competitor and their family for a price.

Although SPEED TV or NBCSN would be a few world-wide choices Wink

It's $55,000 a day just to rent the facility you don't get anything else. You also need to buy liability insurance not cheep either add quite a bit more to run the event itself . Most karters have no clue what it takes to put on a race in time or money.
