The Gatorz Golden State Karting Cup, a popular southern California racing series built around the Rotax Max program, is changing ownership.

Started by eRacingOutlet.com in 2002, the series is being acquired by Andy Seesemann of Full Throttle Karting in Orange, California. Andy has been an integral part of the quick growth of Rotax in southern California and is the leader in Rotax-based karting support in the region.

Brian Stiver, head of eRacingOutlet, sees a continued bright future for the series.

“It is with mixed emotions that Nicole and I say goodbye to the Gatorz Karting Series. We have enjoyed the opportunity to meet and work with such a great group of racers. The relationships that we have developed were the driving force behind our continued involvement in building the series over the past three years.

“Andy has demonstrated his commitment to the Rotax program and this series from the outset and we feel confident that Andy will be able to continue the success and growth that has been established since 2002. We wish him and all the racers the best of luck.”

Seesemann, who started his FTK retail store in 2003, has brought many racers to the Gatorz series and looks forward to expanding his activities in the tight-knit community.

“I am excited to take on a bigger role in the Gatorz Cup. ERO has done a fine job building a series committed to the recreational racer and the numbers at each race bear this out.”

With this change, new personnel will assume key roles for the series. Guy Keesee, race director for the Los Angeles Kart Club the previous four years, will assume those duties starting with this weekend’s night race at Willow Springs. Tom Jensen will supervise timing and scoring with the state of the art AMB system and a new tech director will be named shortly.

“Guy has a wealth of racing experience and will be a great addition to the series,” Seesemann continued. “Tom has immersed himself in many aspects of karting the last few years and his computer expertise will be a perfect complement to keeping the timing and scoring running smoothly. I am evaluating several candidates for the tech position. It is important that we maintain both a reality and perception of equality and fairness for these spec classes.”

Seesemann directly addressed the nature of his role.

“My staff will be charged with making all on and off-track decisions. It is important that all racers and all shops can support this series and know they will be treated fairly. I will simply be overseeing the activities and ensuring the Gatorz Cup continues to be the best place to race in southern California.”

The Gatorz Eyewear Golden State Karting Cup is a regional southern California karting series catering to the recreational racer and delivering fun, camaraderie, and abundant track time.
